It's Sweater Weather!

Happy Fall, sweet friends!  It’s really here; and the first thing we gravitate toward when the temps start to dip are fall sweaters.  Sweaters mark the onset of crisp autumn days and provide a comfortable middle ground until coats become mandatory. Nothing makes us feel as cozy as being layered in soft fabric on chilly days. From comfy, chunky-knit pieces and relaxed fits to trim, light-weight cardigans, not to mention classic fall jackets, we're getting that warm, nesting feeling!  At Salt and Honey, we’re enthusiasts about staples that work well with anything in our closets: and these pieces are both timeless and on trend.  Sweaters take the effort out of transitional dressing as we enter the season of cooler weather.  Here's some of our favorites this season . . .

1. Don't write off beige as basic! Wear this one over a maxi length knit dress for a foolproof outfit.  The sweater adds extra detail which levels up a plain (but classic) piece, at the same time making your short-sleeved dress more practical since now it can be worn all year long!  In contrast, keep it simple by pairing this cardigan with a long denim skirt and loafers.  Simplicity is always attractive! 

2. Beige is beautiful, but this warmer version is tempting us to checkout!  The rich color conjures fall leaves and autumn-ripe fruit.  If you’re looking for that deep rust color to spice things up – this sweater is your go-to!  The lightweight knit will easily carry you from warm summer evenings to crisp fall mornings.

3. Consider this sweater as fall’s answer to everything from your Saturday morning errands to brunch with the crew.  This relaxed sweater can be thrown over just about any dress or bottom in your wardrobe.  The waffle-knit adds interest and texture without feeling bold.

 4. This season, chunky oversized cardigans are having a sweeping revival. But an oversized knit doesn’t have to be frumpy. Pair this grandpa-style cardigan with a straight denim skirt or offset the long silhouette with a feminine dress. Pockets

You may be wondering . . . how do I choose the right color of fall sweater?
The good news is: there is no right answer! Seriously, you can wear a fall sweater of any color but we typically gravitate toward more neutral colors – they give that cozy ensemble; the curl-up-with-a-mug-of-hot-apple-cider kind of vibe. Think grey, light taupe, beige or even black. However, we also love sweaters that come in warmer colors such as rust, rose, olive or navy.
How do you style a fall sweater?
You can style a fall sweater in literally a million different ways. Since they’re so versatile, your sweaters will take you from fall through winter and even into spring, making them a great investment!  Layer an oversized sweater with a turtleneck or button down top and a denim skirt.  Or try a dressier bottom like one of our crinkle skirts.  A light-weight cardigan sweater pairs well with the Claire or Clarise and basic flats or ankle boots. Other times, you just need to throw on a knit skirt, a comfy oversized sweater - and snuggle up to read a book or write a letter!
